Message Standards Sub-Committee

Purpose

The purpose of the Message Standards Sub-Committee is:

• To, jointly with other PHISC sub-committees, identify industry-wide challenges pertaining to the transmission of private healthcare information between organization and
• To recommend standards to address these challenges by evaluating existing standards or defining new standards

Scope

The sub-committee limits its focus to those industry-wide challenges which involve:

• The transmission of healthcare information between healthcare organizations, where
• The information is presented on paper or in electronic format, and
• Is generated by software application systems

Areas of focus which are considered out-of-scope pertain to standards which relate directly to:

• The internal architecture of software systems
• The architecture of business processes or business rules within organizations
